Los Angeles– Keshet Studios is expanding its premium documentary slate with a 10-hour event series, the epic story of Kabbalah with Canada’s Associated Producers Ltd. and acclaimed feature film producer Robert Lantos. Rob Lee, President, Non-Fiction Programming for Keshet Studios, who is spearheading the new premium U.S. documentary slate, made the announcement.
Simcha Jacobovici, President of Associated Producers Ltd., commented, “It’s an honour to team with Keshet and Robert Lantos on a subject that people connect with but know very little about – especially considering its great power, scope and influence. These are the stories of secret societies and mysticism throughout the ages. It’s also the story of those individuals who were called ‘heretics’ by some and ‘heroes’ by many. It’s real life Da Vinci Code. The audience will be both shocked and fascinated by what we uncover.”
Rob Lee said, “This is the perfect way to launch our US premium documentary initiative and complement the impressive ongoing work of Keshet international. We’ve assembled a team that is uniquely suited to tell this intriguing story about a powerful secret movement that has influenced so many major historical events, and which has counted such game-changing luminaries among its followers as Michelangelo, Isaac Newton and Benjamin Franklin, just to name a few.”
The collaboration on Kabbalah brings together three international companies known for their premium, award-winning documentary and dramatic storytelling, Keshet (‘Homeland’, ‘Tyrant’, ‘The A Word’), Jacobovici’s Toronto-based Associated Producers Ltd. (‘The Naked Archeologist’, ‘The Lost Tomb Of Jesus’ and the upcoming ‘Search For Atlantis’) and Lantos’ Serendipity Point Films.
Kabbalah represents the next step in Keshet’s longstanding involvement in the documentary space, where it has invested significant resources over the years to bring dramatic, real-life stories to the heart of primetime television. Uvda (Fact|), which has been the leading current affairs series in Israel offering documentary reports on national and international topics, is now entering its 23rd season.
