Shanghai, China – Iris Xia, Deputy General Manager of Star China Media Ltd., announced that their new singing competition Format, The King of Mask Singer, (KoMS) earned the # 1 place in its time period on China’s Jiangsu TV. Star China acquired the rights to this Format from South Korea’s MBC. Star China also acquired Infinite Challenge from MBC at MIPTV this year.

This deal for KoMS is the quickest deal Star China has ever made to import any foreign format into the market and make an actual local production, then telecast on a 1st tier satellite TV platform. The whole process from start to air was only a few months.
The Chinese version of KoMS will feature 11 episodes in total. At the end of each of the first 8 preliminary episodes, there is one mask singer will win the highest number of the votes and take off the mask honorably on the stage after two rounds competition out of 6 singers, and he/she will then leave the show, going directly into the semifinals. A new mask singer will be added in each subsequent episode, always ensuring there are 6 mask singers for each episode. Episode 9 and 10 will be the semifinals, and the final will be performed in the last episode.
