Flagship Taiwanese social political drama Youth Power, launched on Viki for U.S. viewers through an exclusive partnership with TVBS. The show will be available on Viki each week two hours after it airs in Taiwan. Youth Power, also known locally as Wow! Chen Yijun was awarded the Ministry of Culture’s high-quality drama subsidy of 40 Million NTD (approximately $1.3M USD).
Viki, a global TV site continues to expand its partnership with TVBS, securing the exclusive rights to broadcast Youth Power in the United States and throughout the Americas. Youth Power joins a growing number of Taiwanese dramas available on the Viki site.
“Taiwanese dramas are extremely popular with Viki’s 35 million viewers a month. Uniquely, Viki offers popular Taiwanese shows like Youth Power to our viewers for free and our community of fans translate the TV shows into multiple languages, ​​starting with English, opening up a global audience for Taiwanese shows,” said Sara Jen, VP of content partnerships and GM, Viki, Greater China.
TVBS chairman Mr Cheung noted that Youth Power has three distinctions. Youth Power is a home-made drama, TVBS took just two years to produce the drama and it was first to receive the Ministry of Culture high quality drama subsidy of 40 Million NTD.
The show airs each week on Friday and runs for 21 episodes.
