Tokyo – NHK’s official mascot Domo is helping to promote NHK WORLD TV to travellers visiting Japan. Since 1 October, an array of flags in different designs featuring Domo has been welcoming people from overseas at the international passenger terminal of Tokyo International (Haneda) Airport. These flags are designed to appeal to foreign visitors various attractions of Japan, such as sushi, Mt. Fuji, and hot springs, as well as NHK WORLD TV and its free apps easily available on smartphones and tablets.
A total 28 flags, each measuring 90cm by 60cm, have been set up at the arrival concourse, an alley connecting arrival gates and the arrival lobby, on the 2nd floor of the airport’s international passenger terminal.
The flags will be put up through 31 October this year, encouraging foreigners visiting Japan to enjoy various news and other programmes during their stay in Japan, and even after returning to their countries and regions.
In addition, a 30-second ad spot of NHK WORLD TV is scheduled to be shown on a video screen for in-flight entertainment on the flights operated by three carriers as follows:
– Japan Airlines (JAL) on all international routes in October 2014, and January – February 2015
– All Nippon Airways (ANA) on all international routes in October 2014, and January – February 2015
– Singapore Airlines on all routes in December 2014
