Beijing, China – Snell announced on June 3 that adoption of its production switchers continues to accelerate among broadcasters in China. Anhui TV, HuBei TV, Jiangsu TV, and Wuhan TV have all invested in the Kahuna family multi-format vision mixers in recent months through Snell’s partners in China, Sanitec and CSS.
Broadcasters in China face an increasingly crowded and competitive marketplace where image and quality are vital for capturing viewers’ attention and keeping them engaged. With this in mind, several Chinese media outlets have turned to Snell because of the company’s reputation for high-quality performance, reliability, and ease of use in the broadcast production workflow.
Anhui TV has chosen Snell’s cost-effective, compact Kahuna CF+ vision mixer for five studios in its new building, which will include a total of eight studios and marks a significant expansion for the organisation. “We chose Kahuna for its power, reliability and high-quality performance,” said Jiang, director of TV production centre for Anhui TV. “The fact that Snell and its solutions are highly regarded in the industry gives us a great deal of confidence.”
HuBei TV, which maintains three production studios, has invested in Snell vision mixers ranging from the 1 M/E to 3 M/E versions, for studio production. “Kahuna is easy to use and features a variety of useful functions including a full suite of 3D digital video effects, a clip store for animated transitions, and an advanced timeline,” explained Liu, director of HuBei TV’s production department. “Its FormatFusion signal processing technology enables us to seamlessly mix SD or HD video in any format, without any loss of quality.”
In addition, Jiangsu TV has selected the 2 M/E Kahuna Flare vision mixer for its newly renovated 12-channel OB van, a significant change for the organisation, which had used a competing switcher solution for many years. It has also deployed Snell’s Sirius 600 router, IQ modular infrastructure, and SV2000 up/down/cross converters. And Wuhan TV has deployed the 2 M/E HD/SD Kahuna CF+ for its 10+2-channel HD OB van, as well as Snell’s Sirius 600 router and Kudos Plus HD TBS800 3G, HD and SD format converter and synchroniser. The Wuhan TV implementation represents a substantial upgrade to its large OB van for use in the company’s expansion into a second city in China.
“China is an important region for growth for Snell, and we are pleased to have the confidence of both our channel partners and several broadcast organisations in choosing Snell solutions as part of their next-generation media production infrastructure,” said Naresh Subherwal, president, Asia Pacific and Middle East for Snell.
