Matt Campbell has been appointed CEO of CJZ, effective November 4, 2013. One of Australia’s leading media executives, Campbell most recently held the role of Managing Director at Shine, where he produced ratings-winning programmes such as Masterchef, The Biggest Loser, The Voice and Australia’s Next Top Model.
Prior to joining the Shine Group in September 2011, Campbell held the position of Executive Director of Content at SBS Television for seven years. During his time at SBS, he was responsible for the planning and launch of SBS’s first Digital channel SBS Two. Also during his tenure, the commercial revenue doubled and more people were watching the network than any other period. His list of credits includes the Australian series of Who Do You Think You Are, Immigration Nation, East West 101 and the international hit comedy Wilfred, as well as SBS’s most popular programming such as Mythbusters, Top Gear and local favourites Rockwizand multi award-winning doc series Go Back To Where You Came From.
“Michael Cordell and I first dealt with Matt when he commissioned Go Back To Where You Came From, at the time a risky project which clearly paid off in spades winning the Rose d’Or last year and having recently been nominated for an International Emmy. We admire the fact that Matt backs creative teams and makes bold programming decisions. His style meshes perfectly with the culture here at CJZ,” said Nick Murray, Managing Director CJZ.
