Paris – MIPCOM will be rolling out the red carpet for a star-studded host of actors, directors, writers, producers and show business personalities at its Opening Night party.
The World Premiere TV Screening will open MIPCOM’s first night with The Tunnel, the thrilling new ten-part crime drama commissioned by Sky Atlantic HD and CANAL+, distributed worldwide by Shine International and co-produced by Kudos. This will be followed by a Q&A on the Grand Auditorium stage with the production team and stars of the show, including Clémence Poésy (Harry Potter), BAFTA-winning actor Stephen Dillane (Game of Thrones, Zero Dark Thirty) together with Tom Bateman (Da Vinci’s Demons), Cédric Vieira (Lost Paradise) and Sigrid Bouaziz (Nevers). After the screening, the whole team of the show will grace the MIPCOM Opening Party red carpet at the Carlton Hotel.
Beta Film is bringing two much anticipated series to MIPCOM this year: Cedar Cove and Gomorrah. Internationally-acclaimed actress Andie MacDowell (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Groundhog Day) will be promoting Hallmark’s new series Cedar Cove, in which she plays judge Olivia Lockhart. MacDowell’s co-star, Dylan Neal (Dawson’s Creek, Pacific Palisades), who plays the dashing editor of the local newspaper, will also attend.

Sky Italia’s high-level crime series Gomorrah is based on Roberto Saviano’s bestseller (10 million copies sold worldwide) and the Cannes Grand Jury Prize-winning feature film of the title by Matteo Garrone. Saviano, who will be presenting the show at MIPCOM, conducted years of research to write his shocking exposé of the Camorra which triggered an unmatched reaction in Italy.
From CBS Television Studios, in association with Amblin Television, comes the new 13-episode series, Under the Dome, this summer’s number one series in the U.S. and hugely successful show in markets around the world, executive-produced by Steven Spielberg and Stephen King, and based on the latter’s best-selling novel. Actors Rachelle Lefevre (Twilight saga, White House Down) and Dean Norris (Breaking Bad, The West Wing) will fly down to the French Riviera.
British actresses Emily Mortimer (The Newsroom, Shutter Island) and Dolly Wells (Spy, Bridget Jones’ Diary) will set the red carpet alight as they represent the semi-improvised series they co-created, Doll & Em, produced by King Bee Productions for Sky Living HD and distributed by Sky Vision.
Newen Distribution will unveil the new season of the internationally successful series The Blood of the Vine, produced by TELECIP. French star Pierre Arditi (Smoking/No Smoking, Same Old Song) will be in Cannes to expand on the show’s unique blend of crime and winemaking.
British actor Jack Davenport, internationally known as Commodore James Norrington from Pirates of the Carribean, will arrive in Cannes to present ITV Studios’ new six-part series Breathless. Co-star Zoe Boyle (Downton Abbey) and show creator and writer Paul Unwin will be attending an exclusive screening of the show.
Supermodel and businesswoman Naomi Campbell will attend MIPCOM 2013 in her role as Executive Producer and mentor on The Face, the successful format from Shine America which sees three international models go head-to-head in a battle to find the undiscovered face who has what it takes to front a world-renowned brand. Campbell will be hosting a private, exclusive showcase of the show on the festival’s second day.
The critically acclaimed comedy Call Me Fitz will be promoted by its showrunner and creator Sheri Elwood, who developed the show with Amaze Film+Television. Michael Gross (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Family Ties), who stars in the new season, will join Elwood on the red carpet.
Canadian actress Laura Vandervoort (Smallville, V) will present the werewolf drama Bitten, produced by No Equal Entertainment, Hoodwink Entertainment and eOne.
Welcome To Sweden is an offbeat comedy about a New York accountant who falls in love with a Swedish girl and follows his heart to Sweden. Invited by eOne, creator Greg Poehler will be promoting the show in Cannes.
Actress Abbie Cornish (Seven Psychopaths) will be attending MIPCOM to present Klondike, the mini-series about six strangers who are ready to risk it all to strike it rich and end up struggling to survive in late 19th century Yukon. eOne Television is handling international distribution.
The BBC Drama-produced series The Ark tells the story of WWI’s front-line medics through the eyes of newly-recruited women, who struggle to heal the bodies and souls of men wounded in the trenches. Charlie Chaplin’s granddaughter, Oona Chaplin, will present the show in Cannes.
Starz Worldwide will present and screen the pirate adventure Black Sails at the International Fiction Screenings, in the presence of cast members Toby Stephens, Hannah New, Luke Arnold, Zach McGowan, Clara Paget, and showrunner and executive producer Jonathan Steinberg.
ALL3MEDIA International, Fiction Factory and S4C will present Hinterland. Actors Richard Harrington and Mali Harries will be on hand to promote the detective series, which is set in a Welsh town where history, myth and tradition come face to face with the modern and contemporary.
Produced by Alchemy TV for BBC 2, The Incredible Spice Men aims for nothing less than to wake people up to the versatility of spices and exotic ingredients and change the way they cook. Cyrus Todiwala and Tony Singh, the two spice men themselves, will attend MIPCOM to start spreading the word.
Meghan McCain will be gracing the red carpet to present the docu-talk series Raising McCain, which airs on Pivot USA. Distributed by Tricon Films & Television, the show stars the outspoken daughter of U.S. Senator John McCain as the host, talking to unexpected experts and regular people about pressing issues of the day.
