Eccho Rights has announced that it has sold five options to a local Chinese format producer and content provider Shixi Media. The Chinese mainland based company has optioned for reality show Bucket List, comedy game show Crack them up, charity driven hidden camera show Fools for Good, game show Hide and Seek, and comedy panel show Watch Out.
The deal comes on the back of recent options of Cover Me (China), Everyday Heroes and Little Rock Star.
Xichen Liu, CEO of Shixi Media, says about the deal, “The five formats we have optioned are not the old-fashioned ‘buy and remake’ shows, but have the characteristics to help enhance the development of Chinese TV. As China’s largest format broker and production company, Shixi Media hopes that through this collaboration we can help Eccho Rights to expand its influence in China and at the same time enrich the domestic TV programme market.” (Adrian: include this para inhtml)
Gary Pudney, head of Asia Pacific at Eccho Rights says, “Asia continues to be a growth region for Eccho Rights. The Chinese market in particular is rapidly changing and increasingly opening up to foreign imports, especially formats. This is presenting some really exciting opportunities for us.”
