MasterChef Pinoy Edition premiered in November last year during the channel’s morning timeslot to consistently high ratings, says ABS-CBN. The broadcaster gave the cooking reality show a Filipino flavour by dubbing it as a kitchen series highlighting the real-life struggles and triumphs of the aspiring cooks who come from different demographic and economic backgrounds. The series runs back-to-back with game show Minute to Win It, which premiered in mid-January and is one of the most-watched weekday programmes in the country.

A franchise produced by ABS-CBN, the fourth season of Kapamilya Deal or No Deal, was last year’s top 8 most watched programmes in urban and rural homes in the Philippines, with a national TV rating of 25%, according to data from Kantar Media. Launched on Philippine TV in 2006, Kapamilya Deal or No Deal has set itself apart from other versions of the Endemol format thanks to unique elements such as the dancing 24K girls, the signature hand gestures signifying “deal” and “no deal”, and an energetic and interactive audience. The programme was chosen as one of three countries to be part of USA’s Deal or No Deal – Around the World edition in 2008.
This year, ABS-CBN is set to release more local versions of hit reality shows such as the fourth season of FremantleMedia’s Pilipinas Got Talent, slated to debut early this year, and The Biggest Loser Doubles, the second local edition of the Shine International format currently in production. Nationwide auditions have already begun for the Philippine debut of singing competition The Voice of the Philippines, licensed by Talpa Media Group.
