According to The Bangkok Post, the new package was introduced to stay in competition after Cable Thai Holding Plc (CTH) secured the broadcasting rights for the English Premier League (EPL) in the three seasons from 2013-15. CTH, which currently has 3.5 million household customers, is also introducing new packages and internet broadband for customers by the end of the year. It was also reported that CTH signed an agreement with the Bangkok Bank for a 14 billion baht loan to finance the acquisition of EPL rights, 10 billion baht of which is to acquire EPL content and the rest to upgrade CTH’s fibre-optic network.
