Singapore – Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Asia has announced the November 1 launch of Comedy Central Asia – Southeast Asia’s first 24-hour all-comedy network. The channel features a programming schedule designed for Asian viewers with original Comedy Central programming, sitcoms, stand-up and sketch comedy plus Emmy and Peabody Award-winning content.

Comedy Central Asia will air 24 hours a day, seven days a week in both SD and HD, targeting several markets throughout Southeast Asia.

With the upcoming launch of Comedy Central Asia, VIMN strengthens its offerings with its first venture into the adult-skewed entertainment space with the unique offering of 24/7 all-comedy entertainment targeting viewers aged 18 to 34 years old.

Indra Suharjono, Viacom International Media Networks Asia’s Executive Vice President and Managing Director, said: “Asian audiences’ senses of humour are truly unique and varied, but I’m confident that Comedy Central Asia will offer something for all comedy lovers and strike the right balance to keep audiences laughing yet reflect our tastes and sensibilities.”

Comedy Central Asia will feature both original and acquired content including Comedy Central’s global hit series The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and South Park, the Asian Pay-TV premiere of titles such as Anger Management and Happily Divorced, as well as classic titles Mind Your Language and Boiling Points.  Comedy Central Asia will also feature a “Best of Asia” programming block showcasing regionally acquired shows such as the Singapore-produced comedy series The Noose, and eventually locally produced content.
