Singapore– Sony Pictures Television (SPT) Networks, Asia announced that its Korean general entertainment (GE) channel, ONE, which just turned two, continues to achieve strong ratings across the region.
Among pay-TV 4+ audiences, from January 1 to October 10 2012, ONE has garnered 43% of the viewing share between all 19 HD channels in Malaysia. The channel also drew an average viewing duration of 125 minutes per viewer each day, among pay-TV networks on Astro, according to AGB Nielson Malaysia.
In Singapore, ONE rates among the top five pay-TV channels on StarHub TV amid pay-TV 4+ audiences as reported by Kantar Media. ONE has been considered to be one of the popular channels for female audiences as well. In addition to Singapore and Malaysia, the channel is seen in Cambodia, Brunei, Australia and Indonesia with customised language localisation including subtitling and dubbing for programmes. ONE is currently available on nine pay-TV platforms in six markets with ONE HD also broadcasting in selected territories.
The Korean GE channel has been known to bring Korean drama stars on promotional tours to Southeast Asia such as actors Lee Hyun Woo (Queen Seon Deok, Lobbyist), Jang Hyuk (Deep Rooted Tree), Lee Dong Wook (My Girl) and actress Kim Sun-A (My Lovely Samsoon). Male K-pop group BTOB also performed for ONE subscribers in Jakarta. This has given viewers a chance to meet their idols and offers a promotional opportunity to advertisers and pay-TV partners.
