London – NBCUniversal Formats announced that hit cooking reality format, Top Chef, has been picked up by two major European broadcasters, RTP in Portugal and Antena1 in Romania.
In Portugal, the 13 x 75’ series is produced by CBV and premiered on public broadcaster RTP in August. The show is hosted by Portuguese celebrity Sílvia Alberto, previously known to audiences from Idols and Dancing With the Stars.
In Romania, the country’s largest broadcaster, Antena1, ordered 12 x 90’ episodes of the show for its Autumn 2012 schedule. This marks the format’s first commission in Eastern Europe.
In the series, professional chefs compete against each other in culinary related challenges in order to win a grand prize and the title of “Top Chef”. The show originated from US-cable channel Bravo (part of NBCUniversal), and aired 10 successful seasons with seasons 11 and 12 already confirmed.
