Katy Xu appointed BBC Advertising’s Regional Director for Hong Kong & Greater China
BBC Advertising, part of BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC, has announced the appointment of Katy Xu as Regional Director for Hong Kong & Greater China. She will be responsible for BBC Advertising’s business in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau, Phillipines and China. Xu will be based in Hong Kong and will report to Sunita Rajan, SVP Sales Asia.
Xu joins BBC Advertising from Eurosport Asia Pacific Co. Ltd, where she was Regional Account Director for two years. Prior to that, she was Regional Sales Manager for both Greater China and South East Asia at Microsoft Advertising, and Regional Account Director (Asia Pacific) for MTV Asia LDC.
Kevin Reilly promoted to Chairman of Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company
Kevin Reilly has been promoted to Chairman of Entertainment for FOX Broadcasting Company (FOX). In his new role, Reilly will oversee all programming, scheduling, marketing, research, digital and business affairs at the network.
Under his leadership, the network launched Emmy Award-nominated and Golden Globe Award-winning pop culture phenomenon Glee, and most recently introduced New Girl, the network’s highest-rated sitcom in ten years, as well as The X Factor.
Mark Thompson to lead The New York Times Company
NEW YORK – BBC Director- General Mark Thompson will become The New York Times Company’s next President and CEO. He will also become a member of the company’s Board of Directors. Thompson, 55, will report to the Board of Directors and to Arthur Sulzberger, Jr., Chairman of the Times Company. He is relocating to New York and is expected to start his new role in November.
At the BBC, Thompson developed innovative new products and generated new revenue streams on multiple platforms. The businesses he supervised included BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC.
Nicole Sinclair leads CBS Studios’ new Singapore office
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – CBS Studios International announced it is establishing an office in Singapore. The new regional office will be overseen by Nicole Sinclair, Director of Sales in Asia Pacific, who will relocate to Singapore from Australia.
The move is designed to build closer relationships with clients and expand the company’s presence in this fast-growing region. CBS Studios International also recently opened an office in Beijing, China, a powerful emerging market for the VOD and ad-supported streaming platforms.
“Asia is fast becoming a world leader in innovative entertainment distribution and consumption and we’re thrilled to now have two offices on the ground there,” said Armando Nuñez, President, CBS Studios International.
Sinclair is a 15-year industry veteran, having spent the past five years in the CBS Studios International Sydney office. She joined the company from Alliance Atlantis where, as Director of Sales, she was instrumental in the licensing of the hit CSI franchise in the Asia-Pacific region.
Jason Webby joins CNBC as SVP Sales
LONDON AND SINGAPORE – CNBC has announced that Jason Webby will be joining CNBC International as Senior Vice President Sales.
In this newly created role for the international business, Webby will oversee CNBC’s advertising sales operations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia-Pacific and Latin America. To be based in London, Webby will report to Satpal Brainch, President & Managing Director, CNBC International. Webby joins CNBC from The Economist Group, where he has worked since 2005.
Thom Beers appointed CEO of FremantleMedia North America
LONDON – FremantleMedia has appointed Thom Beers as Chief Executive Officer, FremantleMedia North America (FMNA), effective September 1. Beers, currently CEO and Executive Producer at FremantleMedia-owned Original Productions, will report directly to Cecile Frot-Coutaz, CEO of FremantleMedia.
Based in Los Angeles, Beers will be responsible for the company’s overall management and business performance and will oversee the development, production and business operations of over 600 hours of network, cable and syndicated programming. He will lead a team including Donna Redier Linsk, FMNA’s Chief Operating Officer, and Trish Kinane, President of Entertainment Programming.
