Hong Kong – Star Chinese Movies, a dominant player in the Chinese entertainment category, will be broadcasting its new line-up of original series, live events, concerts and award-winning documentaries from 19 May, in addition to blockbuster movies.
Also, the channel logo is set to change from a star into a crown. The crown features three points, which represent the channel’s aims of offering the best premium programmes, the best screening service and the largest Chinese movies inventory. In addition, the English name of Star Chinese Movies will officially become SCM.
“With all the great Chinese non-movie content out there, we want to take our offerings to the next level and expand beyond movies so we can provide viewers with the very best in Chinese entertainment programming,” said Cora Yim, SCM’s Vice President, Programming.
To launch the enhanced channel, SCM will premiere You’re the Apple of My Eye, a romantic comedy which was a top box office film in Hong Kong. It will be screened during the new Weekend Gala slot at 9:30 pm on 19 May.
Other blockbusters to be screened in the coming weeks include Life Without Principle, Romancing in Thin Air, Magic to Win, The Viral Factor, The Great Magician, All’s Well, Ends Well 2012, Killers Who Never Kill and The 33D Invader.
Also, following the success of its 2005 project Focus First Cuts, SCM will continue its efforts to find new industry talents by collaborating with Salon Films. The new project, Asia First Cuts, aims to finance 10 new films to help new directors reach their potential in the industry.
