Los Angeles/London – Sony Pictures Television (SPT) announced the appointment of Wayne Garvie as Chief Creative Officer, International Production. In this role, Garvie will be responsible for driving creative development across SPT’s global network of joint venture companies and its production studios outside of Los Angeles, turning locally developed properties into global formats and fostering co-developments across the group. He will report to Andrea Wong, President, SPT International Production.
SPT’s International Production business covers Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Latin America and the US. It runs wholly-owned SPT production companies in Russia, Germany, France, Lebanon, Egypt, Dubai and Miami. The business also operates joint venture production companies worldwide, which develop original content for local broadcasters across a variety of genres such as gameshow, drama, comedy, telenovela and documentary. They also deliver local format productions from SPT’s library of over 150,000 television episodes.
Garvie will take up his new role in June this year. Prior to this appointment, Garvie served as the Managing Director, International Production, for All3MEDIA. Before that, he was Managing Director for Content and Production at BBC Worldwide, where he was responsible for establishing the corporation’s global network of production companies, independent UK production ventures and international format hits such as Dancing with the Stars and Top Gear.
