Al Jazeera English has launched on DDish TV in Mongolia, the only satellite TV operator in the country. It is the second international news network, after Bloomberg TV, to launch in the country in November alone. DDish TV CEO Dendev Ganbold said that Al Jazeera is well respected in the country because the news outlet represents free, independent media that the younger generation of Mongolians value. Al Jazeera has opened a number of news bureaus in Asia, including Beijing, Tokyo, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Manila, Jakarta, Delhi and Sydney. The news channel has an editorial mission to balance the current global information flow by giving voice to stories that often are under-reported, promoting debate and challenging established perceptions.
