Cannes – Discovery Communications has launched two biopics – Rising: Rebuilding Ground Zero and Last Shuttle: Our Journey. Each programme presents raw, behind-the-scenes accounts of two major historical events in American history. Discovery Enterprises International, which serves as the access point for all of Discovery Communications’ international programmes sales and licensing, presented these two specials to third-party broadcasters at MIPCOM. Rising: Rebuilding Ground Zero (6×60), from executive producer Steven Spielberg, chronicles the construction of the new World Trade Center site in time for the tenth anniversary of September 11. Last Shuttle: Our Journey, a one hour special, celebrates the historic finale of the NASA shuttle programme.
