Endemol’s multiplatform hit, The Money Drop, has been picked up in three new Asian territories, bringing the total number of episodes sold worldwide to more than 1,000. Endemol India has been commissioned by Star Network’s Star Jalsha channel to produce a first series of 26 episodes. In Malaysia, Astro’s Ria channel has ordered 26 twice weekly episodes, while Taiwan’s Next TV has ordered 52 episodes. The Money Drop is a high jeopardy TV game show where contestants are given one million dollars in cash and have to hold onto as much of it as they can by placing winnings on the correct trapdoor. The first Asian version of the show premiered in Singapore in August on MediaCorp’s Channel Five.
