Los Angeles – Shine International, the international sales and distribution arm of Shine Group, has sold talent entertainment format Clash of the Choirs, to CCTV1, China’s leading broadcaster. The Chinese broadcaster has ordered 10 episodes of the show, which follows the path of celebrities who return to their home towns to recruit, form and coach an amateur choir to compete with rival choirs. The series is scheduled to premiere in early November and marks the distributor’s second format deal in China, following the recent sale of hair styling competition programme, Shear Genius, to Shanghai Media Group (SMG). The latest deal brings the total number of Shine international formats in production across Asia Pacific to nine, including MasterChef, Junior MasterChef, The Biggest Loser and The Moment of Truth.
