Television creatives Roger Cheng from Taiwan and New York-based Mashizan Masjum have joined the Beach House Pictures team in Singapore. Roger takes up the newly created role of Content & Business Development Director and Mashizan will series produce the recently greenlit slate of programmes for broadcasters such as AETN, National Geographic Channel, and Discovery Channel. BHP managing director Jocelyn Little says these two appointments are crucial to keeping up with the company’s expansion. “We are thrilled to have two such experienced talents joining our team; they will be major assets to our creative team and they are arriving at just the right time to help us through our growth spurt.” Roger arrives from Discovery Networks Asia where he has overseen more than 250 hours of programming since 2006 and before that he was in news production for Reuters, the BBC and Al Jazeera. Mashizan has more than 15 years of factual TV production experience, having worked on such high profile shows as Border Wars and DogTown for National Geographic Channel. A native of Singapore, he’s been based in New York since 2005, producing, writing, and directing shows for production companies such as National Geographic TV, Optomen USA, and KPI. In 2006, he made a mark by being the first Singaporean producer to write and direct a two-hour special titled Inside The Volcano for the History Channel in the U.S.
