Singapore – HBO Asia has sealed new and exclusive pay television deals with major independent distributors such as CBS, Content Films, EuropaCorp, FilmNation Entertainment, Lionsgate Entertainment, MGM, QED International, Summit Entertainment and WWE Films. Some award-winning movies from major independent studios coming to HBO include Film Nation’s The King’s Speech; the super-hero comedy caper, Kick-Ass from Lions Gate; the action comedy, Red by Summit Entertainment, which stars Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren and Morgan Freeman; and CBS’ romantic comedy starring Jennifer Lopez, The Back Up Plan. HBO subscribers will also get to see WWE wrestlers, not in the ring, but in feature films produced by WWE Films. HBO Asia has secured the exclusive pay television rights to premiere WWE Studios feature films including Legendary, starring professional wrestler, John Cena. HBO Asia has also acquired movies from franchises such as the James Bond film series and popular franchise, Rocky, will also air. In addition, for the first time ever, MAX, a refresh of CINEMAX, will have its own original drama series. Strike Back, an action series that is co-produced with Sky, is a high octane action-packed drama series based on a multi-million best-selling book of the same name by former Special Forces officer Chris Ryan. Subscribers of HBO ON DEMAND, a Subscription Video On Demand service currently available in Hong Kong, Singapore and Sri Lanka, will also have more movies and series to choose from, and at a higher refresh rate.
