Hong Kong – Sony Pictures Television’s (SPT) magazine talk show, The Dr. Oz Show, continues to gain worldwide momentum with sales of the popular daytime talk show in seven countries in Asia Pacific. The announcement was made by Angel Orengo, senior vice president, distribution, SPT. Following the recent success of the locally adapted version of The Dr. Oz Show on Zhejiang Satellite TV in China, the program will make its FTV debut on Seven Network in Australia in early 2011 and is currently airing on Australian subscription television network FOXTEL’s W Channel. The show has also been licensed to New Zealand’s free-to-air broadcaster TV3, Korean pay-TV channel ELLE atTV and Brunei’s free-to-air broadcaster RTB2. In addition, the program will debut on three South East Asian free-to-air broadcasters, including Malaysia’s Hijrah TV in December 2010, Indonesia’s B Channel in January 2011 and Thailand’s TPBS in 2011. “The increased demand for The Dr. Oz Show reaffirms our belief that there is a growing potential and appeal throughout Asia Pacific for US talk shows with universal themes such as health and wellness,” said Orengo. “Dr. Oz’s enthusiasm for imparting medical wisdom in ways both fun and informative continues to play a key role in breaking through all language and cultural barriers.” Named by Forbes as the third most influential celebrity this year, the iconic and Daytime Emmy Award winning host, Dr. Oz, delights and engages audiences by providing cutting-edge information in an upbeat and entertaining way. The show covers a diverse range of topics from weight loss and staying young to stress management, attracting millions of eyeballs around the world each week.
