Tokyo – The one-off NHK drama presentation Goldfish is to be aired by Swedish national broadcaster Sveriges Television (SVT) following a licensing deal with NHK Enterprises. Goldfish is a small-budget, small-cast drama made by one of NHK’s regional stations. SVT will broadcast Goldfish on December 2 on SVT2 in prime time. Goldfish poetically depicts the bond that forms between two people who are deeply alone. Murata is a gruff, eccentric, and very successful novelist who spent his younger years as a dissolute playboy in Tokyo. Now living on the small island where he was born, he has lost sight of what life means. Orimi is a young editor who comes from Tokyo to collect Murata’s manuscripts. Unbeknown to Murata, she’s a cancer patient who lives in the shadow of death. Together they play out a lovingly paced, emotionally impactful story about life and death.
