Beijing – National Geographic Channel, China International Television Corporation (CITVC) and China Radio, Film & Television Programs Exchanging Centre signed a Memorandum of Partnership that introduces the China to the World documentary production project to cultivate the nation’s documentary filmmaking industry. The strategic partnership seeks to develop world-class documentaries about China by transferring National Geographic Channel’s hallmark production standards to accomplished local filmmakers. The partners target to initially produce one-hour documentaries based on submitted production proposals. Gaining access to expertise and funding, selected filmmakers will be empowered to produce compelling documentaries that will delight local audiences and showcase China to the world. A CITVC division charged with distributing China-made programs globally, China Radio, Film & Television Programs Exchanging Centre will draw on its extensive global marketing network and national distribution organization to support China to the World in promoting the new documentaries in China and worldwide. “Aiming to produce outstanding documentary films that ignite local interest and pride, the China to the World project is part of the localization strategy by which National Geographic Channel continues to expand its distribution and programming to meet the needs of our growing audience in China,” said Zubin Gandevia, Chief Operating Officer, Asia Pacific and the Middle East, FOX International Channels and National Geographic Channel.
