Hong Kong – French-speaking generalist network TV5MONDE has launched on New Zealand’s newest WebTV platform, Ziln. Access to TV5MONDE Pacific will be limited to NZ users only. “We’ve been following the progress of Ziln for almost two years, and we’re glad that their launch coincides with the next phase of our development in the Pacific region,” comments Alexandre Muller, managing director Asia. In addition, TV5MONDE has launched a new feed targeting Australasia on September 5. The NZ broadband customer base is just over 1 million, and Ziln expects to achieve a 10% penetration within six months. Future platform developments include delivery by open standard STBs and media centres, iPhones and other mobile devices, as well as premium channel content, PPV movies and buy-to-download with DRM.
