Seoul – South Korean IPTV operators KT, SK Broadband and LG Dacom have teamed up with sports marketing company IB Sports to create a new sports channel exclusively for IPTV, according to reports in local news portal JoongAng Daily, quoting the Korea Digital Media Industry Association. According to the reports, IP SportsNet, or ISPN will go on air from next month. The channel will provide real-time sports programmes from Korean networks KBS, MBC and SBS, and programmes from other channels including EBS, KTV, YTN and Arirang TV. The channel is expected to feature domestic sports broadcasts and content from overseas, including Major League Baseball from the US, the Olympics, and coverage of Japan’s Professional Football League. Under the agreement, the three operators will provide the initial capital investment and pay operating fees to IB MediaNet to operate the new channel.
