Tokyo – Sky Perfect Jsat is targeting to launch 62 HD channels by the fourth quarter of 2009, with an overall goal of 100 HD channels. Japan’s largest satellite broadcaster, with 3.5 million subscribers, just unveiled its mid-term plan for 2008-2012. It aims to have 6 million subs by 2012, across its Sky Perfectv!, e2 and Hikari services. Revised rules from the Communications Ministry have also precipitated Jsat’s plan to integrate the SkyPerfect e2 service with broadcast satellite. The mid-term plan also outlines Jsat’s intention to have fully completed its transition to digital by the 2011 deadline for analogue switch-off.
