Singapore – CommunicAsia2008 (CMMA2008), Asia’s trade event for the information communications and media industries, is set to be held June 17-20, 2008 at the Singapore Expo. Highlights of the trade show will include the CommunicAsia2008 Summit, a series of industry forums on opportunities in mobile TV, WiMAX and IPTV, featuring speakers including David Kennedy, research director, Ovum; Titus Yong, VP, satellite business, SingTel; and Dr Nongluck Phinainitisart, president, Thaicom plc, sharing their views on current trends that impact businesses and relevant industries. Preceding that is the two-day CEO Perspectives conference for the telecommunications industry, exploring topics on ‘Digital Content and Services’ and ‘The New Telecoms Customer’. The former focuses on handset manufacturers’ extension of products to offer platforms and communities for music, games and digital content downloads; the latter will see industry leaders offer insights on managing customers’ needs in developed and developing markets. Companies which have signed up to exhibit at CMMA2008 already include Ericsson, PCCW Global, Samsung, SingTel, Tandberg TV, and Thaicom. In addition, exhibitors to make their debuts at the event include Navteq, Sandisk, SK Telesys, Sirius Multimedia, TeleAtlas and Yahoo!. Held concurrently at BroadcastAsia2008 (BCA2008) is the BCA2008 International Conference which will focus on the evolution and future of broadcasting technology. The conference will address challenges and solutions for the transition to HD with HD showcases as well as workflow and production examples including virtual studio in HD, as well as pan and scan technology for mobile devices. Organized by Singapore Exhibition Services, CommunicAsia and BroadcastAsia, along with InteractiveDME, EnterpriseIT, CG Overdrive, and various inter-government meetings, are part of the Infocomm Media Business Exchange (imbX).
