Hong Kong – Hong Kong authorities have shut down a piracy operation producing pirated optical discs and DVDs of US TV series including Friends, Grey’s Anatomy, Nip Tuck, The O.C., Prison Break and Supernatural; Japanese anime and TV series; Hong Kong movies; as well as Korean movies and TV series. 200,000 pirated optical discs and 15,000 DVDs were seized during a raid on a warehouse by the Hong Kong Customs Intellectual Property Investigation Bureau and the International Federation Against Copyright Theft – Greater China (IFACT-GC), representative of the Motion Picture Association (MPA) in Hong Kong. Seized discs infringed titles of 25 MPA member companies and other non-MPA member companies. A man and three women aged 24-32 were also arrested. Hong Kong Customs estimated the seizures amounted to HK$5million (US$640,000) in revenue.
