Seoul – Korean pubcaster Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) has appointed Ki-Young Ohm as president & CEO to succeed Moon-Soon Choi who steps down from the position he served in since February 25, 2005. Ohm has been with MBC since 1974 and was most recently executive managing director of the broadcaster’s news & sports department. Highlights of his career as a journalist with MBC include leadership of the news desk for 13 years, and becoming the longest-serving anchor in Korean broadcasting history. Ohm said, “We are facing a lot of challenges such as the convergence of broadcasting and communications and the emergence of new media. But I firmly believe that we can take such challenges as an opportunity to take a leap forward. I will make utmost efforts to realize the renaissance of MBC as a public broadcaster.” In addition to Ohm’s appointment, Se-Young Kim, former president of Mokpo MBC has replaced Chong-In Shin, vice president, MBC who has also stepped down.
