Hong Kong – Asia Broadcast Satellite’s (ABS) president and co-founder Gregg Daffner will step down from his position from April 1, 2008. He will remain as a strategic advisor to the company as well as a significant individual shareholder. Leaving the company, Daffner is looking to utilize his 20 years of experience in the satellite industry for future “challenges and opportunities” on his return to the US. During his tenure at ABS, Daffner worked with ABS’ CEO and co-founder Tom Choi to acquire LMI 1 satellite to provide DTH and CATV distribution as well as IPLC, IP backbone and GSM backhaul services to Asia, Africa, Middle East and Eastern Europe. Prior to that, he helped ABS establish teleport operations in Europe, the Middle East and Asia to provide connectivity options to the ABS-1 satellite. Choi said, “(Daffner) has played a critical role in the creation of ABS and the acquisition of LMI. (His) contributions to the success of ABS have been invaluable and we look forward to his continued support as a Strategic Advisor to the company.” ABS is looking to expand its presence with the launch of its second satellite (ABS-2) in 2010.
