Singapore – NXP Semiconductors, the independent semiconductor company founded by Philips, is providing its integrated set-top box (STB) STB222 to ChangHong to deliver Audio Video Coding Standard (AVS)-compliant IP STB platform to manufacturers and pay TV operators in Asia. ChangHong provides the AVS decoder technology for video over IP networks to deliver video-on-demand, recording and pausing features for TV and interactive services. STB222 supports video standards including MPEG-4AVC, H264, VC-1 and MPEG-2. The optional HDMI support enables SD content to be up-scaled to 1080p. STB222’s dual channel support allows hybrid IP STB solutions which combine the IP channel with terrestrial, satellite or cable DVB reception. In addition, NXP’s STB222 integrates security and conditional access (CA) features to secure PVR applications and operator specific CA schemes. Secure boot, unique ID and secure key handling are available, along with decryption standards such as AES, DES, 3DES, DVB-CSA and Multi2. The STB222 also includes connectivity options including Ethernet for IP based video services, PC connectivity or in-home networking, as well as USB2.0 and SATA to support external or internal hard disk drives (HDD) for PVR applications.
