Singapore – NBC Universal (NBCU) has appointed Karen Johnston to the newly created role of Programming Director, Global Networks Asia, effective immediately. Based in Singapore, Johnston reports to Raymund Miranda, Managing Director, Global Networks Asia. Johnston will play a key role in NBCU’s strategy to launch new channels across Asia in the next 4-6 months. She manages programming requirements and functions of the channels, as well as supports the ongoing formation of strategic partnerships and alliances across Asia. Johnston was formerly Vice President, Programming at Star World, based in Hong Kong. She was responsible for Programme Acquisitions for all four Star World channels and negotiation of international programming contracts for other Star channels including Xing Kong and ANTV.
