Sydney – Yahoo!7’s Olympics site has launched The Fanatic (www.yahoo7.com.au/fanatic), a quest to find an ‘armchair’ sports commentator who will get the chance to work at the Beijing Olympics. Wannabe sports callers are invited to submit unlimited entries highlighting their commentating ability in a variety of situations from everyday events like Dad burning the BBQ to kids playing sport on the weekend or a hula-hoop championship in the backyard Submissions will be judged by a panel of experts including Channel 7 personalities Matthew White and Johanna Griggs (the first Australian female swimmer to break the 30-second barrier for the 50m backstroke). Finalists will be put to the test in a series of vigorous training sessions and challenges, with the nation casting their vote to determine Australia’s ultimate Fanatic. The winner will be flown to Beijing as Yahoo!7’s roving reporter, attend some of the world’s most exciting sporting events, interview fans, file live daily stories and give his/her `Top moments of the week,’ which will be featured on Yahoo!7.
