STAR has promoted Uday Shankar to CEO, STAR India and Jadgish Kumar to COO, STAR India. Shankar takes over from STAR CEO Paul Aiello, who had been doing double duty as CEO of STAR India. Reporting to Aiello, Shankar is responsible for STAR’s overall business in India. He joined STAR India as COO in May 2007. Reporting to Shankar, Jagdish Kumar will work with him to optimize operational efficiencies and drive the company’s growth agenda. Kumar was formerly Senior Vice President, Finance, based in Hong Kong. Aiello said, “Uday’s promotion is recognition of the important contributions he has made to the growth and strategic development of STAR India.” Previously, Shankar served as CEO of STAR joint venture MCCS for more than three years, and he was the editor and news director at India Today, launching channels Aaj Tak and Headlines Today. He also launched Sahara TV’s news division.
