Cannes – Globo TV has unveiled a slew of deals for Asia, the biggest with Indian communication group Sahara One. “Sahara One is going to launch a new channel – probably in December – called Firangi Channel,” explained a Globo TV spokesperson. “The proposal of this new channel is to exhibit the best of international programming in India. We set a volume deal with them for 4 years to provide the best content to the channel with the most famous and brand new telenovelas and miniseries. There will be two slots with our productions. This is our first time in the Indian market as they are a major producer of home-grown drama. “For Globo TV International, this is a result of a tremendous effort to understand the Asian market, what kind of content is needed, the development of a specific communication strategy for the region and the possibility to offer content to new windows, platforms and opportunities.
