Sydney- ABC-TV has licensed a raft of dramas, natural history and entertainment programs from BBC Worldwide Australasia. The dramas are Jekyll (6 x 50’), Hartswood Films’ contemporary take on Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic thriller starring James Nesbitt; The Ruby in the Smoke and The Shadow in the North, 1 x 90’ BBC / WGBH Boston co-productions with Billie Piper as Hindi-speaking Victorian heroine Sally Lockhart; and The State Within(6 x 60’), a BBC / BBC America co-production set at the British Embassy in Washington, starring Jason Isaacs as Ambassador Mark Brydon, who realises he is being played like a pawn in the aftermath of a terrorist disaster. ABC TV also acquired Galapagos, 3 x 50’ HD series from the BBC’s Natural History Unit and National Geographic; and Wild Caribbean, a 4 x 50’ BBC / Travel Channel co-production. Rounding out the package is Fear, Stress and Anger, a 6 x 30′ Hartswood Films’ comedy about the decline of baby boomers, featuring Peter Davison and Pippa Haywood.
