Seoul– KT has launched its broadband TV service Mega TV in Korea and has selected NDS to provide conditional access solutions for the new offering. The on-demand service is initially available in Seoul, Gwa-Cheon, Dong-Tan and selected cities in Kyung-Ki province The Mega TV service offers interactive TV services including an electronic program guide (EPG) developed by NDS; and a range of VOD programming including shows from Korean terrestrial TV operators KBS, MBC and SBS, as well as movies, sports, culture, animation, documentaries, drama, and educational programming. In addition, KT will complete building the nationwide FTTH broadband network by 2010, expanding its flagship high-speed broadband service Megapass which has more than 6.51 million subscribers currently. VOD and interactive TV services are expected to eventually capitalize on the network investment to offer full IPTV services subject to regulatory approval.
