Hong Kong– Two months since the MIPTV announcement of AETN All Asia Networks (AAAN), a joint venture of A&E Television Networks and ASTRO All Asia Networks, The History Channel and Crime & Investigation Network launched in Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia on June 15, 2007. The History Channel and Crime & Investigation Network launched on PCCW now TV in Hong Kong, on Astro in Malaysia and Brunei, on StarHub in Singapore, and The History Channel will be available on TrueVision in Thailand. The four-market launch comes after a prolonged wait for the channels in many markets. “Our customers have been asking for The History Channel for a long time,” said StarHub’s Tham Loke Kheng. According to AETN’s Singapore-based MD (Asia Pacific) Alan Hodges, the delay stemmed from AETN’s search for the right joint venture partner – which it has found in ASTRO. The joint venture’s success in securing carriage deals has outpaced the establishment of the AAAN team, headquartered in Singapore for the region.
