Mumbai- UTV Toons’ 3D feature film Kong Returns to the Jungle won the best-animated feature film award at the BAF Awards during FICCI Frames 2007. Kong Returns to the Jungle was produced by BKN New Media of New York, and animated by UTV Toons. The winner was selected from 360 entries from 18 countries. The movie features original songs and music with 3D animation. The story revolves around protagonist Kong and his brother Jason, as Kong is captured after being revived via cloning and sent to Kong Island, where he has to defend himself against other animals. UTV Toons invested approximately Rs.24 crores (US$5.6 million) in its new animation facility in 2006, which has 225 workstations running 3DS Max and Maya applications supported by a render farm of over 350 processors. The facility is capable of producing 135 minutes of HD animation in a month. Separately, UTV and Malaysia-based Astro Measat’s youth brand, Bindass, has appointed WPP Group Worldwide’s Grey World Wide as its advertising agency.
