Cannes– The Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) led 30 Malaysian companies to MIPTV and helped Creative Licence Sdn. Bhd. secure a co-production and worldwide distribution deal for its 2D animation series (52 x 11 min), Hairy Legs, with Australia’s Southern Star Entertainment Pty Ltd. Creative Licence’s agreement with the sixth largest international distributor of English language programmes outside US is valued at US$10 million with production to take place in Malaysia, while pre-production and post-production will be done in Australia.

 

MDeC reports that Malaysian participation at MIPTV jumped from 33 delegates in 2006 to 69 this year. It sees the support from FINAS as an important factor in securing deals and positioning Malaysian-made content and intellectual property for the global market.
