Elmo puppeteer Kevin Clash resigns after sexual allegations
Sesame Street’s longtime voice and puppeteer of Elmo, Kevin Clash, has resigned from the PBS children’s programme, after a second underage sexual relationship allegation was made against him. Clash joined the cast of Sesame Street as a puppeteer in 1984, voicing different characters before eventually taking on the role of Elmo permanently. The BBC Trust has appointed Tony Hall – Lord Hall of Birkenhead – as the Director-General of the BBC, following the departure of George Entwistle. Lord Hall is currently Chief Executive of the Royal Opera House. He was Chairman of the board for the Cultural Olympiad and was head of BBC News and Current Affairs from 1996 to 2001.
