Hanoi – A new channel that focuses on agriculture, farmers and rural development, VTC16 will make its debut in April. The channel will be managed by the Vietnam Multimedia Corporation (VTC), reports Viet Nam News. National Agricultural Promotion Centre represemtative Tong Khiem said such a TV channel was long overdue in a country where 70 percent of the population were rural dwellers. A survey conducted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Canadian Embassy in Vietnam has shown that farm households lack access to farming information. These findings came after an earlier survey by the Institute of Policy and Strategy for Agriculture and Rural Development that showed demand for information on agricultural production techniques and the materials were the top information priorities for farmers.
