Cannes – In an animation co-production contract worth US$15 million, MIPTV 2010 saw MSC Malaysia Company – Ed-Online Technologies sign a co-production contract with NHC Media, an animation production and distribution company in South Korea. Both the companies will join forces to produce a 2D animated TV series (78 episodes x 7 minutes) named Eori which targets children aged 4-6 years old. Eori is scheduled to be released by the second quarter of 2011 and will be available in Korean, Bahasa Malaysia and English. With a budget of US$2 million, the co-production is supported by Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) of Malaysia, Seoul Business Agency (SBA) and Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA). Another signing ceremony during MIPTV was between MSC Malaysia Status Company – Elite Animation Sdn Bhd (Malaysia) and Everest International Distribution (USA) during MIPTV. The two parties signed an international license and distribution agreement for the regions of America, Europe, Africa and the Middle East regions, worth approximately US$3 million. And Thailand’s most-established animation studio IMAGIMAX signed a significant deal worth US$3 million with MSC Malaysia Status Company – Elite Animation. The deal will continue to spur and encourage additional deals with promising Malaysian animation developers, in line with its efforts to build and grow a dynamic portfolio of worldwide brands through intellectual property management, TV distribution and licensing rights representation.
