National Geographic Television International (NGTI) announced that it has finalised a number of deals with broadcasters across Asia, with recent MipTV programme launches spearheading many of the packages. KBS in Korea has acquired Dam Beavers (1 x 52), a new blue-chip wildlife show from NGT, which follows a year in the life of a beaver community in North America. It has also taken Freaks of the Sea (1 x 52) from Shark Bay Films and two new additions to the NGTI catalogue from Aquavision TV Productions – Mother Warthog and The Last Lioness. CCTV China has also acquired Freaks of the Sea and The Last Lioness. In Malaysia, RTM has taken a package of more than 50 hours including the award-winning Watercolours (3 x 52), produced by Liquid Motion Films, Dangerous Companions (1 x 52) and Honeybadgers Raising Hell (1 x 52) from Peartree Films. In addition to many natural history titles, RTM has also acquired a number of National Geographic Television produced series, including Catastrophe (4 x 52) and Mega Bridges (3 x 52) and environmental titles such as Seed Hunter (1 x 52) and The Burning Season (1 x 52). NGTI has also sold more than 30 science and history hours to True Corp TV in Thailand. Key titles in the new deal include both series of Tower Productions’ When Weather Changed History (24 x 47) and a number of recent productions from NGT, including Science of Men (1 x 52), Virus Hunters (1 x 52), Stress: Portrait of a Killer (1 x 52) and Perfect Child Mummies (1 x 52). TVB Hong Kong has taken Kingdom of the Cobra (1 x 52) and Machu Picchu Decoded (1 x 52), a recently launched special from NGT that uses new discoveries to challenge long-held ideas on how and why Machu Picchu was built.
