Hollywood – BBC Worldwide has hired Paul Davis-Miller for a newly created position as senior vice president of fiction in the company’s reconfigured sales and distribution division. Davis-Miller will team up with Greg Johnson, who was named the division’s senior VP of factual last week. Their goal is to assess programming needs in their respective areas and strategise to meet them — working in part with independent as well as BBC inhouse producers. Both will report to BBC Worldwide Americas executive VP of sales and co-productions Matt Forde. “Paul has a proven sales track record, having held senior positions at two established production and distribution companies,” Forde said. “Paul’s extensive background in production and ability to recognize the needs of our production partners will be immensely valuable to our clients.” Davis-Miller most recently worked as an independent sales agent and producer, making deals between production shingles and cable channels such as Spike, Showtime and Starz. Previously, he was senior VP of sales, acquisitions and co-productions at Peace Arch Entertainment from 2005 to 2009. Johnson was most recently program distribution VP for Disney Media Distribution Asia Pacific. Amit Molhotra was promoted there to replace Johnson.
