BBC Worldwide Productions in India produced a brand new reality TV series for Imagine TV, the Hindi general entertainment channel. Named Desi Girl (Celebrity Village Sleepover), it premiered in India in May. Desi Girl follows eight pampered and polished city celebrities as they take on the role of villager. Their mission is to win the hearts of their host family and ultimately the respect of the village in order to be voted best ‘villager’. Desi Girl is the second BBC Worldwide commission from Imagine TV in India, the first being social experiment documentary series Baby Borrowers. The series is a local format adaptation of the BBC’s Celebrity Sleepover.
