Indonesia/Malaysia/Singapore/The Philippines – In the hunt for a new age VJ, MTV is giving internet stars the chance to bring their unique styles and perspectives into the world of television. There will be no call for entries, no standardised list of questions at auditions, and no set formula to mould a cookie-cut TV personality. Instead, MTV is keeping it real and looking to discover unexpected talents – who are invested in today’s youth culture with their expansive social networks and self-generated content that is shaping attitudes about life, music, film, fashion, design, art and technology – through the digital world. Having trawled the internet extensively the past month, MTV has to-date shortlisted ten individuals from across Southeast Asia as candidates in the MTV VJ Hunt 2010. MTV’s online search for fresh talent will continue till 18 June 2010. Thereafter, the VJ candidates will embark on a five-week competition that will focus on their ability to engage their audience on multiple platforms and in varied areas of interests. The competition’s finale will be held in Singapore in July. The winner of MTV VJ Hunt 2010 will be awarded a year-long contract with MTV Asia.
