London – Endemol UK announced the launch of Endemol Games, a new division specialising in online gaming. Endemol Games will be headed up by newly appointed managing director Jurian Van der Meer, formerly Endemol UK’s head of products & brand exploitation. Van der Meer will report directly to Endemol UK’s chief operating officer Lucas Church. Endemol Games will specialize in licensing and monetising both Endemol and third party entertainment properties in the gaming space. Van der Meer comments, “Endemol’s entertainment properties attract a huge fan base and seamlessly cross over into branded gaming. Our aim with Endemol Games is to further build on this, creating fresh and original concepts that will further invigorate the online gaming market.” The new division will work closely with global operation Endemol Worldwide Brands in distributing UK created gaming properties internationally. Van der Meer will retain his international role at Endemol Worldwide Brands. Van der Meer joined Endemol Group in 2001 as a member of the Central Creative Unit, responsible for all interactive, branded entertainment and advertiser related projects. In 2005 he joined Endemol UK as Head of Products and Brand Exploitation, responsible for all commercial and licensing activities in digital media. In 2007 his role was extended to include international business development around gaming.
